I started my clinical career back in 2006 training as a Community Mental Health Nurse within the British Army. I was employed in a multi disciplinary team providing Nursing Assessments, Crisis Management and Psychological treatments to those people in need. In the early years I really focused on enhancing the basic nursing skills; invaluable skills such as building a therapeutic relationship, compassion, care and empathy.
As my clinical experience has grown so has my passion for evidence based mental health therapies. I want to ensure the treatment i provide is effective and efficient. The drive to develop my practice has resulted in me being in the fortunate position to provide clients with choice enabling me to work alongside my clients to explore which treatment would be best suited to them and their problems.
Over the last 18 years I have had the honour and privilege to provide psychological treatments to our serving population when they have been at their most vulnerable. I have been able to see, first hand, how valuable therapy can be and I now endeavour to take all i have learnt, forward to help people in my private practice.
Before you commit to any therapy please get in touch for a 15 minute triage assessment where we can meet and see if we are a good match for therapy.
I am fully aware that one approach doesn't work for everyone so I am proud to be able to offer a range of therapies that suit you.
During the pandemic. like everyone, I had to adapt my practice and can now confidently offer therapy all of these therapies virtually without compromising their effectiveness. It makes therapy more accessible to all and much more convenient.
For all of my clients I would carry out a full and in depth mental health assessment. I would ask you about the problems that you would like help with and how they trouble you. I would ask you when these problems started and enquire about any previous treatment you have had. Within the assessment it would be useful to understand a little about your background and upbringing so i can understand some of the early influences upon your belief system. The assessment phase may take 1 - 2 sessions. I would take time to understand how you understand your problems and what your goals and expectations for treatment are. At the end of this initial assessment we would decide if I am likely to be of any help to you and if you would like to continue to work with me. You would be under no obligation to continue to work with me. If we are in agreement we would confirm a treatment pathway and review treatment and progress every 4 sessions.
I offer a free 15 minute triage session so we can meet each other.
