What is CPT?
CPT is an evidence based therapy which has been found to be effective treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It is similar to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy but is specific to helping people who have been through trauma.
How CPT works?
You and your therapist will spend time to understand your 'pre' trauma beliefs about yourself, the world and other people. It will then explore your 'post' trauma beliefs in the same areas. By doing this you and your therapist will identify 'stuck points' which are conflicts within your thinking due to the trauma you experiences. Once identified the stuck points will be confronted and you will be assisted in learning how to correct maladaptive, unrealistic of problematic thoughts that had been maintaining your PTSD.
EMDR sessions and cost
CPT is a highly structured treatment approach. It consists of 12 - 14 weekly sessions of 1 hour duration. There will be work to complete in between sessions and these techniques will help you challenge and face your trauma. Each session will cost £70
